Best Review on Magpul AFG2 Angled Foregrip Earth
I'm not new to Airsoft, might as well call me Intermediate. I ordered this gun because I had enough money for a sniper, and I needed one to have an edge over my friends. As of now I have not tested it in a war because I'm patiently waiting for my scope to come in. Now to the review.
The gun is roughly 8 pounds, since the package altogether is 8.5 pounds you can counter in the other things the gun comes with. Out if the box it comes in two pieces. The trigger assembly along with the barrel are one part and the stock /body are another. After reading the instructions it comes with as to how to assemble the trigger assembly.
The gun comes with top rails, and they are weaver rails. No lower rail is included, you need a special pin and bipod attachment and bipod to get one on this gun, but in my opinion is better in terms of mobility.
The bold is sturdy and pulls back firm. Some say it's easy, some say it's hard. In my irony I have the goldilocks effect with mine. Mine pulls back perfectly, no stress on my shoulder.
Now to the firing. Each mag holds 28-30 bb's. When inserting the mag press up on it with your fore fingers and wait for the click. Cock the bolt back, push foward and lock the bolt down into place. Make sure the safety is off.
BB's fire straight in no wind with no hop-up with .20's. In ocassional gusts and mild einds, hop-up just under half way works best with .20's. I have not tested .25's or anything heavier yet. I need to buy more, running out.
Now to what you probably skipped ahead to read, pros and cons:
Pros:
- Realistic feel, nit too heavy and not too light
- Metal bold and interrior
- Okay magazine capacity
- Accurate with .20's, likely better with heavier grade
- Comfortable finger grip
- Comfortable shoulder and cheek rest
- Full ABS body feels slick and durable
- Metal barrel
Cons:
- Seam on ABS body visible, was not assembled as a single piece.
- Magazines not metal (cosmetics)
- Sling it comes with it is low quality. Do Not Use It On This Sniper.
- Bolt becomes loose after firing it for a while, just tighten the end of the bolt that faces you with the small allen wrench it comes with.
- Very long, not much of a con but I don't have a long enough bag yet.
- Claims to be an adjustable stock. (Will clarify)
- Loud firing sound, make your first shot count when doing stealth.
As I said I will clatify about the adjustable stock. It comes "fully extended" out of the box. To shorten it, unscrew the two allen screws in the rear if the stock. Remove the middle plate of plastic, put the rubber part back on and tighten. I thought it was more loke an M4 stock but it wasn't. After all it is a sniper, not an assault rifle. It would have been nice to know How to adjust it before-hand.
Overall if you are looking to buy this gun as a beginner, or a roughed up intermediate player, this is for you. At around 500 FPS with .20's right from the box for $80, this is worth it. It may not be metal, but the ABS suffices enough for durability. I would buy it. A secondary mag will work well with this, allowing you to quickly reload before taking too long using a speed loader and getting shot in the process. I also reccommend .25's so wind is less of a concern.
Hopefully my review helped. It was well worth my money. Get a quality scope, preferably the Diamond Tactical 3-9x32mm lens Zoom Optics scope. Being able to use a sniper close range and long range through the scope is a great benefit. Great buy for a great price. You will save a lot of money.
I criticized this aiming device in the past because I was used to pistol grips instead. However, this device is great for longer barrel firearms than a pistol grip. It greats less stress on your forearm on bicep when aiming while standing.
BalasHapusThis feels great on my AR
BalasHapusIt comes with two different types of grips that you can swap out
It takes up more space on your rail system than a traditional forgrip
Goes on and comes off very easy
I have one of these on all of my weapons because of the ergonomics to shooting it is perfect. Much better then those verticle foregrips and helps you keep a positive alignment for recoil control and fast transition to targets. MUST BUY!!!
BalasHapusI grip my gun with my support hand as far forward as possible. This grip makes it easy to do so, the support hand angle is very similar to my pistol grip support hand angle, which I think is the whole purpose behind the design.
BalasHapusNowadays I actually don't have this AFG mounted and I shoot without it, mainly because I like the feel of grabbing a tube more than a slightly wider AFG, but that's personal preference. For its intended purpose this grip definitely fits the bill.
BalasHapusMagpul Angled Foregrip - Dark Earth
BalasHapusFore grips are great but this is better Magpul has done it again I use M4s and M16s I own a PWS MK2 customized and use this product on all AR type or AK type weaponry. If you use picatiny rail systems this is a must and can be placed anywhere on the rail system for highly improved accuracy. It is a well made and well designed product that I highly recomend.
Fit and finish are perfect color is on and easy to install.
BalasHapusA great product, from a great American Company!
Magpul makes quality products and this is no exception. The grip is sturdy and relatively lightweight. I personally do not like the finger rest, but the grip ships with a flat replacement plate which switches out quickly. I would recommend finding a gun store or buddy who has a rifle with this equipped, however, as the grip angle itself is not for everyone. I personally love the grip angle, but my wife finds it places her wrist in an uncomfortable position. Her and one of my buddies prefer a standard vertical grip to this. Again, I feel like the afg2 gives a more stable grip than a vertical, so to each their own. Either way, this is a solid product and good value on Amazon compared to local stores and gun shows.
