UTG Golden Classic Mil Dot Reticle

Sorry guys, this review is for airsoft players. There are plenty of reviews for this optic for real guns anyway so just go ahead and ignore mine. What I can tell you is that it says it's for .223 and 5.56 NATO rounds right on the box, so I'm pretty sure that if you intend to use this for any other caliber, you may or may not get optimal results. (see the reviews from the guy who used this with a 7.62 mmR rifle and the one with the AK)

This is my first zoom optic and from my impression, it is great. At first I didn't think it wasn't working, but I derped and had the optic backwards. But I digress; the optic is extremely easy to adjust and zero in. You don't need a screw driver, I just used a penny to adjust the dials. I'm not entirely sure what the top +,- knob is for, but from my impression it makes it easier to aim down the sight with. The zoom is permanently set to 4x. The optic is metal, most likely aluminum. I tested it with a magnet and didn't get any attraction so if there is any iron to indicate some kind of steel, it's very trace, but it's sturdy nonetheless. The ticks for the drop compensation can be a little hard to see depending on the background you're aiming at. It comes with lens covers and two mounts; one for mounting on an AR carrying handle or on a 20mm rail. I mounted it on both my P90 and M4 AEGs and it's easy to aim down and I like the look on both. For the price, I say it's a great deal.

  1. The scope is pretty good for the price.
    I like the mil-dot reticle.
I would recommend getting a bore sighter for your firearm to help you zero the scope to your firearm.

  2. Excellent packaging, very secure. Item is built extremely well, very clear opticsa. Holds zero well on my GSG 22lr. Mount is very tight on the pic rail. Zero'd wellafter a laser bore sighting. Looks great on the firearm. Extremely happy with purchase and overall handling of transaction.

  3. Small, light weight, looks nice, dead nuts out to 400 yards, and only $38. Nikons version only goes out to 200 yards, and is $284.00. Crisp view, nice mil dot set up. I'll use the leftover $246.00 for ammo.

  5. And that is exactly what I wanted! I'm not the laser/flashlight/flare launcher kind of guy, I prefer clean and functional. It seems a little silly to put such an inexpensive scope on a $1500 AR, but that's what I did and I couldn't be happier. The scope is nice quality, not flashy and works exactly as advertised. I feel like I got a great deal on some very decent optics.

  6. this was a starter scope, as I've never used a scope until this purchase; and I gotta say that I am really surprised at how well and easy it was to zero in! I have yet to put it through the wringer with stress tests and such, but so far I don't have any problems with it. All in all, a good, simple scope for the price!

  7. For the price, this is a nice scope with a very strong mount. I recommend it. Clear optics and well constructed.

  8. This is a good value for the money. Cinches right up to the A2 carry handle and zeroed right in on my last trip to the range.

  9. 5 stars! first off, it's well built and has a sharp clear image. Second, it really does have a mil-dot reticule. I like the fact that this scope comes with a rail adapter allowing you to mount this scope with out a carrying handle...but it also fits the carrying handles nicely. I am using a carrying handle I pulled off my airsoft gun and it still works flawlessly, so I Imagine if you had an actual metal carrying handle this scope will still work.

What this scope is NOT: this is not really a "sniper scope", it is only 4x20. It is made for giving you a slightly zoomed and sharper image of your target with cross hairs...which is much better than just iron sights (but with this scope and a carrying handle you can have iron sights too!)

Zero: Even with a plastic airsoft carrying handle, shooting NATO 5.56 armor piercing rounds out of a very light DPMS oracle (M4); this scope held its zero perfectly.
